The Samsung G800 is one of those gadgets that attempts to be two things at once.
In this case, Samsung is aiming the device at those who want a decent mobile phone plus a decent digital camera, all rolled into one device.
Not many camera phones do this well - often the camera lets the side down. However the G800 packs a hefty punch as a compact digital camera, with specifications including a 5-megapixel resolution, 3x optical inner zoom (the first time this has been seen on a mobile phone), auto-focus and a bright xenon flash.
Also included is some nice photographic software, including a tool that lets you put your images to music to create a video. The phone comes with a large 2.4-inch display to make photographic display and editing easier.
Of course, all these features require a fair bit of hardware, so the Samsung G800 isn't the smallest phone going around. In fact, it's on the thick side, so if you like your phones petite, forget about this one.
Size aside, the G800 is a very good looking phone. It comes in stainless steel with a brushed metal finish and is considerably sturdier than some other Samsung handsets.
